Fátima Alcázar Rodríguez (Cuenca)
She began her musical training at the age of six in her hometown of Cuenca, Spain, where she received an award at the national Ciudad de Cuenca competition in 2007. She later studied saxophone with Mariano García at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón, graduating with Honours.
As winner of the CSMA Soloist Competition, she performed with the Conservatory Philharmonic Orchestra and has appeared as a soloist in venues and concert series including Fundación Juan March in Madrid, Auditorio de Cuenca and Resonare in Barcelona.
She has collaborated several times with Grupo Enigma, the chamber orchestra of the Auditorio de Zaragoza. Among these projects was the Spanish premiere of Die Stadt ohne Juden at the Mozart Hall of the Auditorio de Zaragoza in 2021.
She subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance and the Konzertexamen at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Daniel Gauthier and José Luis Estellés. During this period, she was awarded twice the Deutschlandstipendium and received additional support through the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
She is currently pursuing a Master Specialized in Chamber Music with a Minor in Music Education at the Bern University of the Arts. Her studies are supported by several foundations, including the Sylvain Brunschwig Foundation.
Before focusing professionally on the saxophone, she was a member of the Cuenca Children’s Choir, with which she performed in prestigious venues such as the Royal Theatre of Madrid and the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
In the 2025/26 season, she was selected to perform as a solo artist within MUSAE, the Spanish national programme that brings music into state museums and cultural institutions.
Alongside her performing career, she has developed a strong interest in concert curation, programme design and the creation of artistic concepts that connect repertoire, context and audience. She is also active as a composer. Her first work for solo saxophone, Cantares, was premiered in 2023 at the Auditorio de Cuenca.
